Nuclear and what not...

Hi everyone,

I just got woken up by my brother to drive him to the station...
I swear I have been used as a driver. Last night I got taken out for a drive (I had to drive cuz he was drunk) to go to a store to get hair wax.. at 11:30 at night! gee...
And he got hungry so I had to drive through maccas...
yay! midnight maccas :D but I sure didnt feel like one last night..
Since living at home, I never feel hungry. I get overfed all the time! duh!!

Anyway, thats not the point. I couldnt help but notice that I am being used as a driver...
As a payback for all the times that I've used them as drivers...

Anyway Havent been up to too much.
Catching up with friends, misato (business style), getting ready for work and cleaning up my room.

Because I got rid of my desk, the room gets quite messy. I tried to go to IKEA last week to get more furnitures and make myself more at home. But it was closed... IKEA is in the area where the liquidation happened. so it will be closed for a while i think :( as well as disneyland.... :'(
But at least i bought curtains!

Yay! pretty curtain!

Anyway, When I went shopping for business stuff like a bag and shirts, the manikin in that section was quite rude... I swear I didnt do it.

huh? thought this manikin was professional....

I just heard a news that one of the musicians here is diagnosed as acute stress something (like mental illness kinda) because of all the news about the earthquake, aftershocks and the nuclear stuff.
At the time of the massive earthquake, he was in Tokyo.... How sensitive can this person be? he is just as exposed to the event as about 10 million people who live in tokyo....

Speaking of nuclear, I read somewhere that the radiation emitted from the Fukushima plant actually is worse than Chernobyl incident. (Does that mean level 7? mmm)
There also was a news of 3 workers being exposed to too much radiation causing radiation poisoning. But that sounds like they are being stupid, ignoring the alarm of the radiation level. Not wearing appropriate foot ware to be in water which is highly polluted with radiation.

Also, all the water they used to cool down the rods are now contaminated and leaking out of the plants. It really needs to be contained otherwise...

Anyway,

I will go buy wax for my snowboard so that I can store it for the summer.
Sigh no snow trip for me for a while :(

Ciao xx

Troubles troubles troubles...

Hi everyone.

Day 4 in Japan is about to end.

news include...
1. Cleaning my room
2. empty supermarket
3. black hair is back
4. i cant drink water

Topic 1:
Yesterday, I spent the entire evening/night cleaning up my room.
I've had stuff that are like 10 years old. you know how it happens if you dont live in there for a long period of time, you tend to accumulate things, not having a need to clean it.
Considering I have 6 boxes and 2 suitcase full of stuff to unpack into my small small room (actually smaller than my study with bunk in Greenfield drive...maybe that's a lie), I decided to chuck old clothes and unwanted furnitures such as my old desk that takes up half the space of the room and a book shelf which is too short and again takes up about 1/5 of the room.

I also decided to get rid of doors to my wardrobe. I dont think it was supposed to be, but i made it into a wardrobe. With doors, you cant really see what's in it properly and stuff. I just need to purchase a curtain so that I can hide things in there.

The result is:
I still need to get rid of the brown drawer with kangaroo on it (not getting rid of a kangaroo) and replace it with a giant drawer and hanging space. and suitcases need to be rid too...

Topic 2:
You know in my last blog, I said that there is a plenty of food here and not to worry. But I lied...

LOOK! this is the section with instant noodles and all the goodness. Compare with the section right next to it, which is pretty much fully packed, it's crazy. People just buy the instant shit! WHY!
food shortage in a very very weird way... I guess people want to survive somehow, very lazily...
and you can also tell which is the least favourable flavours...

Topic 3:
As I spoke to many of you during it today, I had to sit on my hair dresser's chair for SIX hours! too long... way too long. Today not only I needed to get my hair straightened, I also needed to dye my hair back to black. Now I look like a goth chick.. WHY! what happened to natural brown like i told her.. It looks like black which is too black that makes it almost navy blue... sigh sigh.
I need to wash my hair a few times to drain the dye or something, if possible.

Not the greatest picture, but I think this picture shows the reflection that the light make on my hair. it is black... FULL ON black... sigh sigh

Apparently dane was in the hair dresser with me. Where were you?

Topic 4:
As you may have heard already in news, the nuclear situation in japan is not getting any better. Sigh... Now food products around the plant are radiated? affected with radiation? you get the gist.
No milk or spinach from that area. What a waste... sad to see those veges go waste, but nothing we can do... We dont want to get radiation poisoning from that.
So these problems are avoidable, because you can just choose not to drink milk from that area or not eat spinach at all. Whatever.

BUT, this next big issue that we have here is that the drinking water in Tokyo is contaminated...
How are we supposed to avoid this?
Apparently the level of radiation poison? (english please?) in our drinking water. The drinking water that supplies entire tokyo, chiba ibaraki area is contaminated. Not in the affected level they say for adults, but as kids can handle 1/3 of radiation as they are tiny midgets. The level in water is too high for kids.

Does that mean if you drink three times the amount of water today than usual, you get radiation poisoning? I only heard the headline, not sure about the details. I will investigate on that tomorrow morning. Im sure the morning news is all over it.

Okay, so tonight, Me and my bro were having a convenience store crawl for a hunt of eggs, I was just checking if they sell any of the mineral water bottles.

The result was...

Of course not.

When news like that hit Japan, everyone goes nuts. I even saw a sign saying you can only buy 2. the bottles need to be shared amongst everyone...crazy.Me and bro decided to live off those vitamin drinks if the drinking water gets too contaminated. water shmoter.

Pity the area effected provide so much of everything... water, food and electricity... we cant do anything without them!

Hopefully the radiation level in water does not go any higher. But there is no guarantee...
If i keep on drinking, will i grow another head?

Anyway, tomorrow I will have a dentist check up. Ravi, be proud of me.
and see if i need to get out my wisdom teeth...
Maybe wisdom teeth blog part 2 is coming.

Ciao for now

Miss you x

Arrived in Japan!

Hi everyone!
I arrived in Tokyo safe and sound tonight at 7pm :)hehe, the first proper blog post after the us, so I feel bit odd :O
anyways, there was a bit of drama getting out of Australia this morning.
Like universe was telling me not to go.

Pat, Ellie and Charlotte came to see me off in the airport this morning, which was very sweet of them, especially considering girls went out the night after/the same morning and had a few hours of sleep. hehe ellie had a bit of accident on the way as well, which was pretty funny.

My flights were at 7:30am to Gold Coast and at 10:50am to Narita.
Saying good bye to them was really sad :( but i got to the plane in Melbourne about 5 min to spare. girls were really eager to go to the gate while Pat and I just could not care less about getting there on time.

Alright, first accident (or sign, i must say) happened in the flight to Gold Coast.
The captain announced that the weather in Gold Coast had deteriorated severely that planes had to have extra fuel than they were usually required. That meant that the plane could not land in Gold Coast with the current amount of fuel that it had, so we had to land in Brisbane... It landed in Brisbane at 8:35am(QLD time), which actually was 5 min later than the time it was supposed to get to Gold Coast. The fill up took about 30min and they had to do extra taxing or whatever which took extra 15min. So by the time We left Gold Coast it was 9:15am.
I was shitting myself then because I had a flight to catch and you know going through the custom and what not takes a looooong time. There was also an announcement saying that the flight to Narita will be delayed if necessary to wait for us. Phew. The weather in Brisbane was horrible. So i was getting worried about how much Gold Coast was supposed to be. When landing, the whole plane shuttered and it was bit crazy.

It only took the plane 14min to travel the distance of Brisbane and Gold Coast. So I landed in Gold Coast at 9:45am (hang on, i lost 15min somewhere... ah well). I had 1hr to pick up my luggages and check-in again and go thorough the custom/immigration. Turns out that the weather in Gold Coast was much better than the one in Brisbane... 1.5hr just wasted for nothing. Thanks jetstar!

When I was checking in, I asked a girl at the Jetstar counter how many passengers that we've got in the plane. I was expecting to stretch up and sleep for the entire trip.

and she said...

"The plane is really full. We have 273 passengers"
(Dane, you were the closest)

Whaatt?! I couldnt believe it! everyone was going to japan!!!! WHY!!!???
Apparently, the flight to Osaka is cancelled so everyone is going to narita first... Or something.

While going through the immigration, another accident happened. The custom area was absolutely empty. There were three officers working and only me, when I walked in. So I filled up the form and walked through. I was expecting the stamp and just walk off.

BUT, she was checking my passpost for so long and looking at the computer screen... What have I done? and I was asked to go to the small room next to the immigration... WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?

Turns out that I overstayed my visa for 5 days.. oops. But I swear that I called the immigration months in advance to make sure i dont do that. I swear I was told that as soon as my student visa expires, the visitor's visa kicks in so I dont have to do anything...

Dudes were talking on the phone for 5min with the immigration. and he came up to me and said that I was fine. He said that they didnt particularly care... huh?

So i got to the gate about 10min to spare and i managed to buy a pair of ugg boots! :D :D

That was very eventful. Nice work Australia! you tried to make me stay longer:P

The flight was boring and uneventful as usual.
I had to sit next to two youngens, who managed to sleep through everything.
Even I couldnt do that :S

Hehe, they are telling people not to get scared of the sniff dogs. How could you be scared! and oops I was not supposed to take a picture of that... :S

Got picked up by my brother and mom. Didnt have to take trains all the way home. which was really good. and I could tell that mom was a bit nervous about the aftershocks after the first hit...

The brown tapes are meant to be holding all the glasses that are in the cabinet... not sure how effective they will be but seems to have kept mom busy for a while...

Mom wasnt also embarassed to show me what she was doing during the big earthquake.

And apparently the box that's infront of her in the picture fell when she was holding the cabinet...
ah mom...

Anyway, I am home safe and sound after all the mess. I have to dye my hair very soon...

Missing everyone in Australia already.

Bit late so shall go to bed.

Love you heaps

Kumi xx
