Knowing it is in Japan and Japanese people love going to places which is crowded, I didnt particularly wanna go to the actual place to see the fireworks because it is going to be disgustingly crowded. But, I didnt want to see the fireworks fron my roof just with my mom, so I asked momo to come. (Some of you might know her because she came over to visit me in 1st year and stayed in Bernadett
This event is one of the things that i have been missing heaps in Japan. The awesome fireworks and to wear a traditional summer kimono, which is actually called yukata. My mom got it made while I was in Australia still so that I could wear it anytime when I come back.
Momo came over a bit earlier than the actual start of the hanabi. We were playing wii when it started firing fireworks. We bulted to our roof to enjoy the japanese summer.
The Hanabi lasted for an hour and it was awesome. It is so different from what I saw in Australia. Very different, and very traditional Japanes-like. Well it might be just the atomosphere that makes it Japanese but i think it would be different experience if that was done in Australia. This has to be in Japan. If anyone is coming to visit Japan, you should come and see the fireworks. This is just too awesome.
I'll update more photos on picasa/facebook.

Looks awesome kumi, but am I missing something? The fireworks are more traditional and Japanesey?
Apparantly we should all go to darwin. On the 4th of july or so fireworks are legal for one day... imagine the insanity! (i think burn wounds account for 99% of the year in one day)
Is that picture of the fireworks actually from your roof? That's pretty awsome. When you say Japanesy fireworks do you mean they managed to find a way to get rid of the annoying smoke the accompanies fireworks - because seriously that annoys me and if anyone can solve that "issue" it's the japs.
"My [mum] got it made...."
Firstly; you aren't in america yet spell it correctly.
Secondly; she had it made? How can I put this eloquently. Are You Too Large for normal ones ....
Hey its asha (what is with this comment leaving system... very confusing for small brains)
Kumi u look gorgeous! mum clucked like a chicken (u know u can see her lol). Oooooo isnt she pretty lol. Sounds like ur having a blast! So happy for you. I know how awkward things can get with ppl (going back to Adelaide and all) so goooo you and ur super woman social skills. Im currently in my new job at bakers delight (cough) and moving house (kill me). Keep well
Hi! I know about your blog now, so prepare for some commenting.
Are fireworks dangerous with paper houses? For that matter, isn't rain dangerous? And do you take notes on the wals?
Was that whales or walls jammo?
Narwhals. Spikey...
Confucius say don't play leapfrog with unicorns or narwhals.
God I'm super confused.
Jammo Whats wals...? we dont have too many paper houses anymore. and it is usually done along a river about 5-10m away from the loads of houses. lol also, if its raninng you wouldnt be able to do the fireworks tho?
DK
is the fireworks ilegal in darwin? strange town... Yep the pocture of the fireworks is all from my roof. How awesome is that. Nah I just generally think fireworks are traditional to Japanese culture over anything else. No particular reason for it tho. But it is japanesy. maybe wind is the solution...
I always say mom, not mum. This is one of the things I refuse to change. its MOM not MUM. hehe nah she got yukata made just because she had the material for it really cheap, not because I'm too huge.. Which could be a case but hopefully not..
Matt
Yes, fireworks are definetely traditional to Japanese over New Zealander :P
How good (how good?) is this explosion of comments? I think there is a critical number of commenters before it explodes, like a hanabi. Honeybee?
Hey kumi, now that your tooth fairy is paid off, are you hanging around much longer in Japan? Maybe heading over to chinatown to see some aussie olympic gold?
Mai says: I love that pic of the fireworks!! and I guess the pic of the girl in the blue kumono is cool too :-D
hehe thanks mai :) you guess huh :P :P
Jammo!
